Efficacy and safety measures in using fruits and vegetables
  • Consume local and seasonal fruits and vegetables-Apples grown in winter are preserved and stored thus has minimum nutrients.
  • Buying organic, makes them free from traces of harmful chemical fertilizers ‘in’ and pesticide residues ‘on’ them. Other compelling reason is these are not shielded by pesticide, thus have developed own weapons (antibacterial and antifungal phytochemicals) against germs that also aid us, when consumed.
  • Thoroughly wash, even though organic, under running water and immerse in water for hour or two, to kill worms and germs. If skin is edible and palatable consume with it, as many helpful phytonutrients are located immediately beneath it.
  • Cut into moderate pieces with stainless steel knife, if want juice put in juicer and for less juicy fruits and vegetables add some drinking water and for palatability honey or pepper, but not sugar or salt.
  • To have canned/bottled or re-constituted juice are worse than worthless.
  • Main advantage of consuming juice, is that fruits and vegetables can be consumed in large amounts, but whole are better for weight loss and fiber aids maintaining positive health also. At last, phytonutrients present in them are more important as they not only fight deficiency disorders but also age-related ailments like heart diseases, arthritis, cancer etc.
